Bumps in the area of the implant

by stacy
(washington)

I have an implant that is 5 years old. The gum area around the implant has two small bumps or bulges. The area has been viewed by Xray at my dentist and I have been advised there is nothing wrong. However, is this area simply a bone growth around the implant and is this a normal situation?
One complaint, when I have a cold, I can feel sinus pressure in the area. The implant is an upper lateral incisor.

I also have a bump by my implant and it has been there for over 10 years or so. My implant was put in in 1969 and it is a metal blade type. I am having exrays on Saturday to try and see what it is. It is a hard bump and at times, tender around the implant. The implant is loose now and not sure what to do next.
