Can a dental implant be enough to preserve your gum?

Can a dental implant be enough to preserve your gum for a back tooth (no abutment and no crown)?
If no,what can one expect to pay for a back tooth abutment and then the crown?
Because I will be paying out of pocket - no insurance, should I expect to pay only state schedule fees and not above?

Preserving Gum

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by preserving gum. If you mean preserving space for a crown to be placed on at a later time (where the adjacent teeth will not shift/lean into the space), then no...a crown will need to be placed in order to maintain the space in that area of gums.

Normally dentists offer a cash discount if you are not using insurance. State scheduled fees are extremely low and usually not near what the actual normal price of a dentists fees are. These are typical for medicare/medicaid cases where dental providers agree to offer the service to those patients for a sharply reduced fee in exchange for being a provider for that patient group.

Prices vary based on where you live but many dental offices offer services such as CareCredit which allow you to finance the procedure.

Well! I think it's not enough that a dental implant to preserve your gum. You must avoid to eat those things which effect your gum. I hope doctor told you about these things. Care is playing key role in the preservation of gum. So, you must think about it. Actually, I read very detailed article on that topic at bigbangdissertation.com. Therefore, I always avoid to eat those things which effect my teeth in future.
