Hi I have an implant that is perfectly integrated with my bone. It was placed in 2006. My crown became loose in 2010. I met with a prosthodontist who told me that the head of the implant is deformed and stripped. He suggested that he could shave the head of the implant to look like that of a regular implant head and create a custom abutment to fit on it.
Another prosthodontist said that he would create a custom abutment and if that doesn't work, shave the inside of the implant and work with it as if it were a root canal tooth (pour cement into the shaved implant). I'm not sure which suggestion is best. But all have suggested not to take the implant out.
