How soon after chemotherapy I can do implants

How soon after chemotherapy I can do implants:

I finished chemotherapy (breast cancer) less than 2 months ago, and radiotherapy this week. I have been long planning to have implants. I am pretty desperate now because one of my front dental bridges came out.

How soon can I safely go for the implants?

Lichen planus and dental implants

by Janice Seals
(Ben Lomond, CA USA)

I have been in the process of getting 5 implants for 3-4 years. Now I have contacted lichen planus in my mouth. It is severe and painful.

My dermatologist says it was caused by my reaction to the metal in the implants. My dental implant specialist says it may be caused by Celebrex I take for arthritis.

I'd appreciate any information relating to lichen planus and dental implants.

Thanks Janice

Sjogren's patient

My wife has been a Sjogren's patient for 15 years. This disease has destroyed her once beautiful smile. We did not have funds for implants until recently and now are seeking information.
Will implants be a good option for her? She does not want dentures and has only a few teeth left which are all ruined.
Would a mini implant be an option? If so, can these be both upper and lower jaw appliances?

She is very fastidious about oral care but with this condition the results only delay the inevitable destruction.

Your advice is appreciated.

Can implants cause worsening symptoms of TMJ?

Can implants cause worsening symptoms of TMJ?:

I have had TMJ problems for 20 years now. Eight years ago I had a root canal in my upper right sided #6 (second from back). A few months ago my dentist put a temporary crown in this #6.

Two days later I got an infection (pain and pea sized lump on my gum behind tooth). I have gone to three dentists and specialists. They all believe there is a cracked root in my #6 and the tooth needs to come out (extraction).

Currently I am still wearing the temporary crown on #6 and am in no pain whatsoever. An implant was recommended for this #6 tooth. My concern is my history of TMJ. I have had braces twice, in my 20's and 30's, to correct my bite and I wear a nightguard for clenching.

I have had every type of treatment (physio, cranial sacral, accupuncture etc..). I am so afraid that the implant will cause my TMJ problems to flare up again.

I am tempted to just extract the tooth and leave a space there. Why can't I just extract and leave it alone? My worries mostly lie in getting the drilling done for the screw. That drilling occurs in my jaw bone which is attached to my TMJ. This can cause me possible horrendous problems, no????

Any advice, especially from TMJ sufferes who have had implants, would be appreciated.
