Do I need to replace a molar after extraction?

Tooth #14, second from back molar, has been recommended to be extracted. My Endodontist said a root canal would only have a 50/50 chance of saving tooth for five years.

My Dentist wants to extract and put in an implant. What if I had the tooth extracted and did nothing? It is a back molar (top) and is not visible. Would my bite be affected?
Would remaining teeth move?

molar after extraction

I have two molars removed from one side and was able to manage 10 yrs. tough at first, but your body gets used to it. now on the other side, after 10 years of a bridge, it had to be removed from a bad root canaled tooth. I'm finally getting implants.
If your tooth is in good condition, (no chips or cracks infections etc) go for the root canal. If it buys you at least three years, divide the cost per day until it fails. it's cheaper to keep as long as you can.
