Exposing Dental implants and temporary bridge

Exposing Dental implants and temporary bridge:

I had bone grafting done in October 2010. I had implants placed in February of 2011. Is September 2011 ok to have implants exposed, and get abutments, and get a temporary bridge? Or is that too soon? If it is too soon when can I have it done?

Implants exposed
by: Sharon B., RDH

Usually about 6 months after placing the implants is enough time to allow for healing and bone generation before the implant is re-exposed and a bridge placed. Depending on how your mouth is responding to the bone implant your dentist may feel like there hasn't yet been enough bone generation to support the pressure yet.

Follow up with your implant specialist to determine if the bone is formed enough or if they think you may need another bone implant as 6 months is a very common time frame.
