Fitting a 2 unit crown on one implant

by Rob

I have been told some very contradictory advice regarding this. My two front teeth are missing and some dentists have told me one implant will be more than sufficient to support a two unit bridge whereas others tell me the rotational forces will be too great. Can anyone offer any advice?

No! two implants for two teeth whether posterior or anterior

Implant

I don't agree with one implant in this situation. I think it is your front teeth that you are dealing with and you should not cut any corners.

If you needed two prosthetic lower limbs, you would be able to stand and move about on one but won't it be much more efficient and easier if you replaced them both.

I will agree with the previous two posters, especially since it's in the anterior (front) of your mouth. If the forces cause implant failure, or other damage such as a fracture to the ridge, in addition to all the expense of the bone augmentation work that will have to be done, it will all be visible. Generally the bone in that region is not so wide that an implant can just be replaced with a larger one, should it loosen.
