Trimming Gums
by: Sharon B., RDH

For cosmetic procedures such as gum trimming, it is best to wait until after your orthodontic therapy is completed. Gums can continue to change throughout the course of your braces, but once they are off and you are wearing a retainer, that is the safest option. Many times small things such as this or smoothing the biting surfaces of the teeth are done once the braces are taken off, to ensure the most aesthetic smile.
