Implant discomfort 5 years later

Implant discomfort 5 years later:
Recently I have been getting pain from my implant from my molar. I had this procedure done almost 5 years ago, and when I had it done I noticed that my gum's have had this dark almost blackish color around the metal part for the duration of the implant.

Now I can see that it is built up to the of tooth next to it. I floss all the time, and I have to do it specifically at that area every time. I am afraid that I might be getting an infection. How can I reverse this? Should I use one the water floss tools that you get at the store to prevent it?

dental implant infection 12 years later NEW
by: Alfred Lippman

Had dental implants in lower left and lower right jaw in March 2000. Already had upper dentures. This year gum receded from left implant exposing metal side. Week ago puss observed from receded gum in this area. Taking prescribed antibiotic to keep bacteria from growing. Dentist expects to remove implant. Is there any way to clear bacteria from implant and save implant? I am 86 years old and still healthy.
