Implant discomfort 5 years later

Implant discomfort 5 years later:
Recently I have been getting pain from my implant from my molar. I had this procedure done almost 5 years ago, and when I had it done I noticed that my gum's have had this dark almost blackish color around the metal part for the duration of the implant.

Now I can see that it is built up to the of tooth next to it. I floss all the time, and I have to do it specifically at that area every time. I am afraid that I might be getting an infection. How can I reverse this? Should I use one the water floss tools that you get at the store to prevent it?
