Implant Protrudes Into Sinus Cavity

by Rose
(Denton, Texas, USA)

I had an implant in number 14 a year ago. I have not had the abutment because I still have pain. On the x-ray I see that the implant protrudes into the sinus cavity quite a bit. Can that cause the pain and what can be done about it.

Why would an oral surgeon do that? He did not discuss this with me. I asked if he would have to do a sinus lift and he said no. He said I had plenty of bone without that and then I guess he must have punctured the sinus membrane. I was in a lot of pain after the prodedure.

Make sure you get the best treatment
by: Dr. Lee

I would recommend going back to the surgeon with all your legitimate questions. And if they are not answered to your satisfaction (or with a measure of competence and confidence), and the doctor is not willing to remedy the situation by viable means, I advise you seek a second opinion. Make sure you get the best treatment possible. Best wishes.
