I recently had 2 implants placed in my lower jaw. From the beginning it was a "risky" procedure because I have suffered quite a bit of bone loss. The oral surgeon stated to me after the surgery that it was challenging, and time would tell if it was successful.
2 weeks after the procedure, my follow-up visit revealed that it still had not healed and that he would check it again 2 weeks later. When I look at the site, my gums have not reached around the implant and fused, rather the gums have become a little "flappy" and the gray metal flat pieces are still exposed.
Is this normal?
