Infection and implants

My question regarding Infection and implants:

Hi - I am 53 and in good health. I just broke my tooth and the dentist put me on antibiotics to clean up an infection below the gum(of the broken tooth).

My dentist recommended implants - but he wants to pull the tooth out very soon and immediately install the implant!
Pulling the tooth out and waiting for recovery makes more sense to me because of the infection but I am not a Dentist.
Any suggestions??

Infection & Dental Implants

Hi
I had an infection in my mouth and had to have a tooth pulled out. i was put on antibiotics to clear up the infection first. my tooth was extracted and then i went back for the dental implant about 5 days later. everything is fine no problems. the implant is like having my own tooth back - it's great.
