Past the age of 18, there are no restrictions on age for any dental treatments. For some types of procedures (dental implants being one), they are not advised on children because the teeth, gums and jaws are still developing.
There are no side effects to root canal therapy or most fillings. There can be rare side effects from the use of anesthetic or a sensitivity to the filling material. Unfortunately delaying treatment can cause all sorts of side effects such as broken, fractured teeth, abscesses and infections. Dental problems such as decay never correct themselves so it?s best to have the treatment completed before it becomes more involved and costly.
Root canal by: David
It's safe to get the root canal. The real question is why the tooth needs it in the first place. Did the tooth break? You need to have your bite evaluated or you will just be wasting your money. If you do get a root canal I would highly recommend getting it crowned at the same time or the tooth will just break off.
