One of the implants is releasing this battery sensation

by Ora
(London)

Directly after the anaesthesia wore out from the first phase of the 2 implants I had, one of them has a hot electrical current sensation since then. I also have a slight metalic taste all the time.
It is so unpleasant that I am thinking of taking it our.

Any idea why is this happening and what should I do?

It is now 6 months since it was placed. both teeth have been built on the metal implant but yet one of the implants is releasing this battery sensation.

I am very dissapointed because I am considering extracting a healthy implant as it is so distressing.
Thank you
Ora

Nerve NEW
by: Sharon B., RDH

Hi Ora,

The electrical sensation that you are feeling sounds to me like possible nerve damage. You may want to see a specialist such as an endodontist or oral surgeon to evaluate the neurological anatomy in the area to determine whether or not damage has occured. Sometimes this can happen from the use of local anesthetic and it may take months to wear off, if it does.

As far as the metallic taste, that sounds more as if another tooth has a large filling that is wearing out, or due to a side effect from a medical condition or medication that you are taking. I would advise having your dentist check for any other areas of decay and also reviewing your medicines and side effects with your MD and/or pharmacist.
