Spaces between my crowns from receding gums

7 years ago I got crowns so I would not have spaces between my teeth. Lately I have had an issue with receding gums / Gingervitas. Now all my teeth that I got capped are spaced out. Can this be reversed?

Gum Recession
by: Sharon B., RDH

Hi Madison,

When gingivitis is left alone it progresses into gum disease. The only way to reverse gum infections and stop gum recession is by cleaning under the gumlines. Angling the brush toward the gums, flossing tight around the tooth down under the gums, or using a waterpik/water flosser can help cleanse the areas of bacteria causing this condition. It can take up to 2 weeks before the bleeding goes away.

When recession is severe enough, gum grafting can be performed. Gum tissue is taken from one area of the mouth and placed in the area where gum tissue is lacking. An oral surgeon would perform this procedure.
