Tooth with an old root canal

by Lea
(Arizona)

I have a tooth with an old root canal that is leaking into my sinus cavity, causing an inflammation and constant greenish discharge.

I want to replace it with an implant, but is it safe to place the implant in immediately after the extraction, or shall the area heal first and then place the implant in?
Thank you for your opinion!

Infection is the number one cause of dental implant failure.

In a case like this, I would recommend that the site be allowed to heal before an osteotome is pursued. Infection is the number one cause of dental implant failure. As always, seek the advisement of one or more dental professionals before proceeding. Best of luck.
