Would getting a bridge be quicker than the 3 to 9 months for the full implant procedure?

A week ago my mother fell and impacted 5 of her front teeth. She is in fairly good health but is 96 years old. Given the fact that implanting would probably be more invasive than a bridge I am wondering which would be better for her.

We went to a dentist who x-rayed her teeth and referred us to an oral surgeon for extraction due to her advanced age. We are seeing the oral surgeon tomorrow. How do I factor her relatively short remaining life span into the pros and cons?

Would getting a bridge be quicker than the 3 to 9 months for the full implant procedure? If we choose implants would she be able to eat solid foods during the 3 to 9 months of healing?

I am looking for the solution that will give her the best quality of life in the shortest possible time.

Bridge vs. Implant NEW
by: Sharon B., RDH

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. To answer your initial question: yes, a bridge is much quicker as far as treatment time compared to an implant. However I should suggest another option that should be considered as well. A removable partial (partial denture) may be an even better option for her. I would weigh the costs and see how the 2 compare and go with the lesser of the 2. If this were my own mother (or myself) it is what I would do. Because of her age implants would not be the treatment of choice, but we do want to ensure her quality of life and make sure she can function properly for speech and eating. A partial will allow any other missing teeth to be replaced on the same appliance.
